MobilityOne Completes Pilot Production and Delivery of 3D River Model for Next-Generation River Management in Jeju

Expanding Toward Digital Twin-Based Smart River Management and Disaster Response

MobilityOne, a specialist in drone and robot integrated operation platforms, announced that it successfully completed the pilot production and delivery of a 3D river model for next-generation river management in Jeju Island on December 19.

The 3D model was created by conducting three VTOL drone flights over an approximately 11-kilometer section of the Cheonmicheon national river, followed by advanced image processing. An oblique camera equipped with five 61-megapixel lenses was used for data acquisition. While the on-site flight was completed in one day, the entire workflow—including image alignment and processing—took approximately one week, resulting in a high-precision 3D model with a ground sample distance (GSD) of less than 4 cm.

Jeju Province plans to utilize the newly developed 3D model to accurately identify river-related risk points, assess the height, area, and structural condition of surrounding facilities, analyze the height, area, and volume of vegetation formed within the river channel, and precisely quantify pollutant sedimentation. Based on these insights, the province aims to establish a smart river management framework and further apply the data to digital twin-based flood prediction and disaster simulation systems.

Building on this pilot project, MobilityOne plans to expand its business into additional areas, including the large-scale deployment of high-resolution 3D models across rivers and small streams, automated change detection through periodic drone monitoring, AI-driven analysis of water levels, sedimentation, and vegetation dynamics, and digital twin-based flood and inundation simulation services tailored to climate change scenarios.

A MobilityOne representative stated,

“This project goes beyond simple 3D data generation and serves as a foundational technology for smart disaster management and digital transformation in Jeju,”
adding that
“we plan to expand our digital twin-based services to a wide range of public infrastructure domains, including rivers, roads, coastal areas, and mountainous regions.”
